About invited talks: Personal invitations for ATLAS physics and overview talks at international conferences and workshops may not be accepted by members of the ATLAS collaboration without the prior approval of the Speakers Committee. In any doubt regarding the classification - international or regional - of a conference, it is the responsibility of the invited speaker to contact the Speakers Committee for advice ( CB document). |
Information on what can and can not be presented: Only approved results can be shown at conferences/workshops. Approved results can be found in a range of places: in publications, such as the CSC book (CERN-OPEN-2008-020); in PUB or post-2008 CONF notes; or in results linked from the AtlasResults twiki page. Older physics sensitivity results, for example from the Physics TDR or pre-2008 PUB notes, can sometimes be shown, but always check with the combined performance/physics group conveners that they are still current. A special case is made for student talks and posters at national meetings and at international schools, where students can present their own, unapproved, work: the details are given here. Advice on how to give a good oral presentation is available here. |
Procedure for the approval of the slides prior to the conference: ATLAS speakers are requested to first have their talk carefully checked by the relevant working group conveners.
The last action of the approval procedure comprises the following steps,
using the
CDS interface:
The request should be made at least 10 days before the start of the conference. If the talk contains ATLAS and CMS material, one should allow 14 days for the interaction with the CMS representatives. The same rule applies also to poster presentations. |
Slides collection on CDS: The Speakers Committee maintains a database of these international conference talks given on ATLAS physics, or on the ATLAS detector (see the Speakers Committee Web page). After presentation at the conference, we will turn the final version of the slide COM note into another type of CDS document, ATL-SLIDE, to store in the CDS ATLAS Conference Slides collection. We will then make a link between the ATLAS conference database entry and the talk stored in CDS. The link appears with the name "CDS link". |
Conference proceedings: Sometimes a conference speaker is asked to provide a write-up of their presentation for the conference proceedings. These are reviewed and approved within ATLAS following procedure set up by the Publication Committee. Their web page contains useful LaTeX and ROOT templates together with other information. |
